Often only little attention is being paid to some of ELMA’s core competences. They take place ‘behind the screnes’, in the inner rooms of the engineering department. Each day over 20 engineers are designing, calculating, 3D-drawing, programming and simulating of complex drive & control systems. This work is crucial for each turnkey automation solution that is being delivered by Elma at the customer.
A complete engineering team is assembled per assignment, consisting of a hard- and software engineer and a project manager.
During the ‘behind-the-screne’ engineering phase the hardware engineer is responsible for the design, the drawing and calculation of the drive & control system. They are also responsible for the selection of all the physical building blocks for the system. Since E-plan is the program they use to accomplish all this, our hardware engineers are often called ‘E-plan engineers’.
The software engineer focusses more on the design of the control system, the programming of the plc’s, the making of simulations before a physical setup is being made and commissioned.
Since ELMA is a brand-independent system integrator are engineers are used to work with hard- and software solutions from ABB, Allan Bradley, Bachman, Siemens, Schneider and Vacon.
